Agricultural mechanization and Gramolere

Post-war Langhe was less populated, and an entire generation left the land for the city, in search of a better life.
Giovanni Manzone was one of the few who decided to stay in the countryside.
Driven by the desire to innovate, he bought the first Lamborghini crawler tractor, suitable for working the steep slopes of Castelletto.
It was seen as such a big innovation that the few remaining farmers competed to rent it.
Meanwhile, the property kept expanding. In the early 1970s, the plots of Gramolere («weed and stones», in Piedmont dialect) were purchased: these were suitable lands where great grapes and wines of incredible structure and longevity were historically produced.
