We have centenary history
“My grandfather was called like me, Giovanni. He takes credit for our family’s most important accomplishment: surviving”
GIOVANNI MANZONE
Imagining the hills of Monforte d’Alba at the beginning of the 20th century with its present image in mind is not an easy task. We must imagine extensive vineyards split in half, the densest and most luxuriant woods and fields of wheat and maize almost everywhere, stretches of gold that, in summer, would welcome men and women, the faces of hard work, coming from populous villages scattered among remote hills, connected by dusty roads.
In this situation of marginality and misery, of industriousness and desire for redemption that Stefano Manzone started the creation of the present-day winery. A man from 1860, father of three, Stefano handed down his lands, the result of enormous sacrifices and hard work.
Today Manzone Giovanni represents one of the most historic and deeply rooted wineries of Monforte d’Alba.
Five generations of winemakers who have cultivated the same vineyards for over a century, revealing every secret and potential of the land in which they have decided to live and work. A family journey filled with hard work, struggle, pride and revolutions that has marked the very history of Barolo and Langhe wine. To which the Manzone family have dedicated their best efforts and their natural vocation, learning to express, in each label, the living essence of a generous and noble land that knows how to yield wines with perfect balance, unparalleled elegance and extraordinary longevity.
